Devere Slaley Hall (Hunting Course)

Score 9/10

Dunstonburgh Castle 13th HoleThe Review

A Dave Thomas designed par 72 course with lush sweeping fairways, the Hunting is regularly hosts the PGA Seniors Championship in August. The 7000 yard, par 72 "Hunting" is a treasure of a golf course, magnificently maintained and hosts several flagship events

Don't be lulled by the rolling moorland, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons - this course will catch out the unwary. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard course a real challenge. This is a very nice and challenging course with great views over the moors. The only hole I don't like too much is the dog leg second where it is a true 90 degree turn to the green and I always try an cut too much off the corner and end up in trouble! Being a championship course it can be a little long for some but this should not put anyone off a visit as it is well worth it.
