The feel, control and confidence you gain from playing a sand wedge correctly around the green can only be found with lots of practice. An excellent way to do this is to stand in the middle of the practice green and throw a number of balls over your shoulder so that they land randomly around the green. Without altering the position or lies play the shot as you find it. You will soon learn how to play every shot round the green, after all your ball rarely lands around the green with a perfect lie so why practice with a perfect lie!
