Carry more wedges to help lower your score
The key to good scoring is having a good touch around the greens, it is therefore important to give yourself the best possible chance to play well in this portion of the game and this is the best way to know shots from your handicap.
Try to carry four short game clubs in your bag, a 9 iron, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and a lob wedge, (I have a 64 degree lob wedge which is great for coming over bunkers with little green to play with). This range of clubs will give you the most versatility around the greens.
Too many golfers carry too many clubs for the long game, they might carry 3 different woods, a 1 and 2 iron. This is too many long clubs and most golfers will find that they very rarely use all of these clubs.
